Take part in our annual survey of museums 2016/17

Each year we undertake a survey that asks museums within the Accreditation scheme to provide core data on their visit numbers, educational engagement, financial operations and workforce.

The purpose of the survey is to help demonstrate the social and economic value of museums across the South West both locally and regionally and to provide a tool to suppose museums benchmarking their performance. This is the fourth year we are undertaking the survey.

Last year we received responses from 80% of Accredited museums in the South West have published an infographic summarising the 2013/14 results.

Previous Results

This data enables us to monitor the impact of Arts Council England investment in the museum and heritage sector in the South West and to advocate to funding bodies and government to sustain investment in the sector.

By encouraging museums and heritage organisations to adopt a simple and uniform way of reporting their headline operational data, we aim to create a body of data that will enable museums to compare and benchmark themselves anonymously and confidentially to others in the museum sector.

Here are the summary results from our survey in 2012/13. 157 museums responded and data is sorted by visit numbers.
