BBC Civilisation Festival- BBC Archive & Digital Storytelling Workshops

The BBC is asking organisations across the UK to put on events inspired by Civilisations as part of their Civilisations Festival. The festival will be taking place from Friday 2nd March – Sunday 11th March 2018.

Until then, they would love you to keep them up to date with what you have planned for your organisations event, and for those involved, you will receive information for the BBC contact in your area, to enable you too start having conversations about your chosen event.


BBC Archive- Making the Past a thing of the Future

The BBC archive is packed full of interesting content, such as insightful documentaries and a library of broadcast material which the BBC want to make available to Civilisation Festival Partners to help support your events during the Festival.

From January 2018 they will be making available a Civilisations collection of clips which will be available to download from the internet.

Digital Storytelling

The BBC’s Research and Development team have been working to put together a collection of compelling digital tools to open up a new way of storytelling to engage your audiences.

So far, they have created an augmented reality app to connect audiences, where they can comment and share collections and artefacts on your mobile or tablet.

The BBC Civilisations Festival will be running Digital workshops for organisations across the UK, run by expert staff from the BBC’s digital Research and Development teams. These workshops will allow your organisation to explore ideas and will give you a unique opportunity to try out new tools to expand your knowledge.


The Bristol workshop will be taking place on  17th October 2017!
